Vornado has recalled approximately 79,000 electric space heaters that have been sold at large retail stores nationwide. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission the heaters can overheat and catch fires posing a fire and burn hazard.
The recalled product is the Vornado VH110 Whole Room Vortex electric space heater, which comes in white or black, and is marked with a prominent “V” logo on the front of the unit. The units measure 10.5” high, 9” deep, and 10.5” at the base growing narrower at the top.
Recalled units have the numbers 1 and 3 as the fourth and fifth digits on the serial number, which is printed on a silver decal on the bottom of the unit.
These heaters were sold from June 2013 through May 2014 at several retailers including Bed Bath & Beyond, Home Depot, Target and Amazon.com. Each unit cost about $60. There have been 29 reports of heaters overheating, including seven reports of the heaters catching fire.
